"After working in the New York fashion industry for almost 20 years for large corporations, it is so freeing to escape the corporate America politics to be able to run my own company -- make all the decisions, build my clientele base and creative team, and feel great about my successes!"
The Bubbly Boss
Sometimes, I dress up and put on a full/dramatic face of make up to work at the house because it makes me feel strong and more productive. Sometimes, I am wearing a mask and eating cinnamon toast crunch in bed at midnight when I'm returning emails. My business-owning is a mix of tough badassery and a whole lot of play. Mixing the two can be difficult, but ultimately, it's the best and most rewarding gig. I love it. :)

The Start To Finish Boss
"Start to finish. Big picture and details. Lost an order night before it was due. Completely my fault but damn stop Facebook messaging me your orders. That’s what the website that we spent countless hours building is for. Oh and if I decide to not do an event or Market it’s not personal it’s business. Sometimes I just can’t be spread any thinner. Speaking of thinner good lord I need to go to the gym or yoga, yes yoga would be good."

The Forge Co-Founding Dude
"We tried to get bank people to listen to us and went to like the small business center and the office for economic development with a sweet, 40+ page business plan. Old guys were like, "You need to shower." They weren't wrong, and we decided to start without money. We had passion. We were naive. We weren't going to be stopped. Mistakes were made but so were other things. We were FORGE. Or, I guess you would say that we are FORGE. That word might not mean much to you but to us, it's what makes us smile while being cut by cutting-edge technology. It's a tenacious attitude that stares into the horizon and trudges towards it. It's our company and we capitalize it because - even though we 3D print in .15mm layers - those layers keep adding up. #grunt"

"Monday's are for rest. Monday's are for "sit down girl, no seriously sit down." Monday's are for embracing messy beds and even more messy life that changes every week, almost every day. Monday's are for Mathew 6:26 and reminding myself that stressing about work and interviews and provision does nothing except wind you up here, in bed on a Monday afternoon, asking yourself if 4pm is too early to go to bed, surrounded by tissues and cold meds. So my love note to you today? Embrace the mess and lean into the rest today friends ✨ also if someone wants to bring me BBQ, I'll def eat it 🙃"

The Exhausted but Enthusiastic Boss
"I came up with the idea for our podcast after hitting a breaking point where I felt nothing for my photography business (the thought of doing another photo shoot filled me with dread) and was completely overwhelmed by information overload on how to "be a boss" and how to "make $100,000 while you sleep." None of these resources felt inspiring - they felt defeating. How could I ever compete with the success stories of women who had already made it? And what was I even hustling for? I feel like a failure a lot - but I've had a difficult time finding anything on working through and overcoming these feelings from someone who had been in my shoes. Not everything can be solved by "hustling harder." So my friend Tina and I wanted to talk out these things with other creative business women - and that's how the podcast was born! I've finally found a purpose with my work now - and working towards something you believe in changes absolutely everything."

The One Woman Boss
"I spent the last two years building something out of nothing. I believe that is miracle work. Straight up fucking magic. It has been hard- not just because creating something and putting it out in the world is so terrifying- but because life is unpredictable. I want to share with women that it's okay to go at your own pace. Especially when life gives you lemons. That it's okay to say no. And that it's okay to not know it all. You don't have to "fake it till you make it" to be successful. The way to be successful is to define that word "success" on your own terms. That is why being your own boss is worth it." – DanielleRead More

I've owned my own event planning business for about a year now and it's the hardest thing I've done in a long time... WTF are taxes and who's supposed to teach you about those and why does the idea of "branding" give me anxiety and after you figure out all of that, when is there time to actually plan a client's wedding?! Being a small business owner can be lonely, which is why I'm opening The Exchange Tulsa (@theexchangetulsa), a female coworking space in Midtown Tulsa, OK. Women entrepreneurs need a space to collaborate, empower each other, and get shit done during the day. I want The Exchange to be a place where women can take risks, all while having a community of women behind them shouting, "You got this!"
